Dwarf Clocks
2004 Willard House Calendar
The 2004 calendar celebrates America's colonial clockmakers with a collection of dwarf clocks made between 1795 and 1835. Although good examples of American dwarf clocks are limited, all but two in this collection are previously unpublished.

The case style of a dwarf correctly ties it to tall case clocks, but the movements are on a scale of those found in banjos and shelf clocks. Dwarf clocks were probably made as a less expensive alternative to the traditional tall case clock. This style clock has several names including both grandmother clocks and dwarf tall clocks. The public seems to favor the former while the collector the latter.

Individual pages for each month contain a brilliant image of these rare and elegant clocks. With historical information on the facing page, this is a unique and fascinating calendar for collectors.
